Principles before process. Always.

We Believe Books Deserve Better

Book Vanguard Hub exists because the publishing industry often treats authors as products. We start from principles — not packages. Read our manifesto before anything else.

The Five Principles We Will Never Compromise

#PrincipleWhat It Means In Practice
IAuthor OwnershipYou own your manuscript, your cover art concepts, and your publishing rights. We never take equity in your work.
IIEditorial HonestyIf your manuscript needs six more months of revision, we will tell you. We do not rush to invoice.
IIICraft Over SpeedWe cap our active projects so every book receives deep, undivided attention from a dedicated editor.
IVTransparent PricingNo hidden fees, no upsell traps. You see the full cost before any work begins.
VLong-Term ThinkingWe build author careers, not one-off products. Every decision considers your next book, not just this one.

What authors say after working with us

"I came to Book Vanguard Hub with a messy 120,000-word draft and a lot of anxiety. They didn't just edit — they helped me understand my own voice. Principle II in action: they told me chapter nine needed to be rewritten from scratch. It hurt, but the book is immeasurably better." — Deirdre Malone, author of Salt Roads
"Other services quoted me for everything at once. BVH broke it into phases and let me pay as I went. No pressure, no package lock-in. The transparency principle isn't marketing — it's how they actually operate." — Tomás Byrne, debut novelist

Editorial Stance: We Read Before We Sell

Every manuscript that enters our pipeline is read — fully — by a senior editor before we propose any service. This is non-negotiable. We need to understand your book before we can serve it honestly.

Are You Ready for Professional Book Services? A Fit Check.

We don't work with everyone. Not because we're exclusive — because honest collaboration requires readiness. Answer these questions before reaching out:

✓ Is your first draft complete? We don't develop ideas — we refine manuscripts. If you're still writing, finish first. We'll be here.
✓ Can you accept structural feedback? Our editors may suggest cutting chapters, reordering acts, or rethinking a character arc. If that feels impossible, we're not the right fit yet.
✓ Do you have a timeline in mind — measured in months, not weeks? Quality editorial work takes time. If you need a book in 14 days, we cannot help you well.
✓ Are you open to phased engagement? We prefer to start with a manuscript assessment before committing to full editing. This protects both of us.

If you answered yes to all four, scroll down to our pathways or start a conversation.

Service Pathways — Not Packages

We don't sell bundles. We offer pathways that adapt to where your manuscript actually is. Each pathway is entered through a manuscript assessment.

Manuscript AssessmentFull read, structural report, developmental notes, honest recommendation on next steps2–3 weeks

Every pathway begins with the Manuscript Assessment. We never skip it. This is Principle II at work — we need to understand your book before proposing any scope.

How We Assign Editors

You don't get whoever is available. When your manuscript assessment is complete, we match you with an editor based on three factors:

Genre fluency — your editor must have deep reading experience in your genre. A literary fiction editor won't be assigned to a thriller, and vice versa.

Working style — some authors prefer detailed margin notes; others want big-picture conversations. We ask about your preference and match accordingly.

Capacity — each editor works on no more than three manuscripts simultaneously. If the right editor isn't available, we'll tell you the wait time honestly rather than substituting someone less suited.

"They matched me with an editor who had read more Irish literary fiction than I had. She understood the rhythms I was reaching for before I could articulate them." — Niamh Connolly, author of Tidal Patterns

Your First 30 Days With Us

Day 1–3: You submit your manuscript and a brief author questionnaire. We acknowledge receipt and confirm your assessment timeline.

Day 4–18: A senior editor reads your full manuscript. No skimming. No AI summaries. Cover to cover.

Day 19–21: You receive a detailed assessment report: structural analysis, voice notes, market positioning observations, and an honest recommendation.

Day 22–25: We schedule a one-hour call to discuss the report. You ask questions. We listen.

Day 26–30: If you choose to continue, we propose a pathway, assign your editor, and agree on a timeline and fee — in writing, before any work begins.

No commitment is required at any stage. The assessment stands alone as a valuable document regardless of whether you continue with us.

Case: From Rejected Draft to Published Novel

When Ciarán Daly came to us, his literary thriller had been rejected by eleven agents. He was considering shelving it permanently.

Our manuscript assessment identified a structural issue: the dual timeline was confusing readers because the transitions lacked clear anchoring. The prose itself was strong — the architecture needed work.

Over fourteen weeks of developmental editing, Ciarán restructured the timeline, strengthened the antagonist's arc, and tightened the opening fifty pages. The revised manuscript was accepted by the third agent he submitted to.

"They didn't rewrite my book. They helped me see what was already there and what was getting in the way. That's the difference between editing and interference." — Ciarán Daly, author of The Lough Confession
